Role overview
We are looking for a DevOps engineer to join our technology team with experience building and scaling services in a cloud environment. You’ll be working as part of a small team of other DevOps engineers, whilst liaising with Android, Backend, Data Engineering, and Analytics team. Externally you will be in contact with our service management partners on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
You will establish configuration management, automate our infrastructure, implement continuous integration, and ensure that members of the technology team are up to speed with DevOps best practices to achieve a continuously deployable system.
You will be responsible for all Disaster Recovery and regular system maintenance, as well as performing or coordinating regular security audits, using internal and external resources.
You Will be responsible for enforcing and creating security best practices as well as devops knowledge hub.
Responsibilities
Working with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes in daily bases
Maintaining and improving AWS infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible and Packer
Maintaining and improving our CI/CD pipelines
Continuously increasing transparency of our systems through monitoring and alerting
Building and maintaining a highly available production environment while automating creation/destruction of other non production environments.
Own and deliver Disaster Recovery capabilities
Closely working with technical teams to implement and build automation solutions
Supporting applications hosted in an AWS cloud environment, including deployments, patches, security checks, and maintenance
Working with data team to create and maintain ETL jobs on Airflow
Skills required
BSc computer science or equivalent experience (min 2 year)
Passion for automation
Is a friendly, thoughtful person
Knowledge of ‘Infrastructure as Code’ such as Terraform
General scripting using bash, python, groovy, ruby
Experience of supporting applications, specifically GoLang, Java, Python
Understanding of of unix OS (e.g. Linux and MacOS)
Experience in Cloud platforms, Ideally with AWS and GCP
Working with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Understanding of databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL)
Experience in CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or other
Ability to prioritise tickets, projects and multi tasking
Ability to to work in a quick paced environment
Experience with distributed systems
Decent knowledge of networks
Knowledge of ETL jobs
Familiarity of Big Data infrastructure/processes
Bonus points for
Familiarity with Android build processes is big plus
Experience with monitoring tools such as Logic Monitor and Lacework
Knowledge of automation tool such as Ansible
Knowledge of maintaining and deploying Elasticsearch
